By Small Means Galveston is intended to be one way for members of our community to connect with knowledge, people and resources designed to increase self sufficiency. It is not a guarantee that resources are available or that the information available is applicable to your situation but it can be a step in your journey.
Why Self Reliance?
Beginning at birth it is our purpose to grow in wisdom and stature with God and with man. Growing in Self Reliance builds character and a sense of accomplishment. It unlocks creativity and unleashes personal liberty. It strengthens our ability to determine our own futures and deepens our capacity to give back to the community. As the saying goes "It takes a village"
Building Self Reliance
Building self reliance takes time, sacrifice, patience, persistence, work, hope, faith, and love. It often involves mentorship in one form or another. Building self reliance takes giving and receiving. It builds personal freedom to act and not be acted upon. The first step to greater self reliance is taking inventory of personal strengths, weakness, skills, and knowledge. Then we must have the courage to look for and identify areas we want to strengthen. Then we create a plan of action. We then must act on our plan and make adjustments as we make steps toward.
